Beth D. Osowski has been a trial lawyer in the Oshkosh area for over 30 years. Her practice focuses on workers compensation, personal injury, and many different types of civil litigation.
She is the author of Trial Preparation Tools, an extensive book about civil litigation which addresses thousands of complex legal issues that trial lawyers all over the county face. The book provides answers, helpful litigation hints, and hundreds of forms and legal briefs drawn from her decades of litigation experience. Osowski has also authored blogs on many different litigation issues—several of which have been published by the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Inside Track magazine. She has presented dozens of legal seminars on personal injury, civil litigation, and a variety of workers compensation topics, and has also appeared as a guest on many different television and radio shows focusing on the law. Osowski is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh on a variety of legal topics and previously taught a course on legal ethics.
Osowski is a proud member, and past director, of the Wisconsin Association for Justice, which is committed to protecting our civil justice system and the rights of those who depend upon that system, such as her many clients. Osowski is also a member of the Wisconsin Association of Workers Compensation Attorneys.
She previously served as the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary of the Litigation Section of the State Bar and continues as a member of that Section. This organization is comprised of both plaintiff-oriented and defense-oriented civil attorneys who are able to work together on our common goals of preserving a fair system of justice for all civil litigants who come before our courts.
Osowski served nearly a decade as a volunteer on the Office of Lawyer Regulation’s District Committee, which investigates ethical complaints against lawyers, using her many years of experience to help protect our community.
Osowski has served as Chair of the City of Oshkosh Board of Review for over two decades. The Board of Review holds hearings each year to address appeals by land owners asking for changes to their property taxes. Osowski runs these hearings similar to a judge in a courtroom, questioning experts, witnesses from the community, and members of the City Assessor’s Office before the Board deliberates and decides the cases.
Osowski grew up in northern Minnesota and North Dakota, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of North Dakota. After a few years of teaching government and other social sciences to high school and middle school students, she returned to school herself and obtained her Juris Doctorate with Distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law. She was honored to be recognized as the first-ranked student in her law school class all three years and graduated with the highest honors.
Osowski continues to volunteer for many pro bono legal organizations, providing free legal services to those in need. She also happily took on a role as a big sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin and has introduced many school-aged children to the law with many fun mock trials.
